The Section 1 seedings and matchups have officially been released and the road to the Westchester County Center begins on Wednesday.

As expected, Mount Vernon earned the top seed in Class AA. Undefeated teams Tappan Zee and Tuckahoe are the No. 1 seeds in Class A and Class C, respectively. Dobbs Ferry is the top seed in the Class B tournament.

Westchester schools will participate in several noteworthy first-round games. Perhaps the most intriguing will occur Friday, when No. 9 Mamaroneck heads to No. 8 New Rochelle in a Class AA matchup. The Tigers beat the Huguenots last week for the first time since 1971 and will have to do so again if they want to advance in the tournament.

Scarsdale coach Jon Feld said last week he hoped to avoid a 16 or 17 seed so his Raiders would not have to face Mount Vernon in the opening round. His wish was not granted, as No. 17 Scarsdale will face No. 16 Clarkstown North on Wednesday in the play-in round. The winner will travel to Mount Vernon on Friday.
